There is much more to publishing a book than I’d ever imagined, and publication is not the end. One thing that has become part of what I do now is giving presentations about my book and hosting book discussions with book clubs. My first presentations were with organizations in New York, first the New Amsterdam History Center and then the Wyckoff Cousins, a group associated with the Wyckoff House. Then, I was able to attend the Holiday Cheer Book Event with the Oregon Historical Society in Portland, Oregon, where I got to be around authors from all over my state. With all of these events, I’ve connected with many people who are also deeply interested in the Dutch Colony of New Netherland.
This past week, I had my first book discussion with a Book Club, they were from the state of Washington. I’ve mentioned previously that I am willing to join your book clubs through Zoom to discuss my book. It was a small group, but we had a delightful time. It was a conversational discussion about Catalyntje, the Dutch, and writing.
I have one more online presentation scheduled, along with two book club discussions, a city-wide read, and two more book signing events within the next few months.
Again, I extend the invitation that I am willing to join your book clubs to talk about Catalyntje and my novel. To me, she is the most amazing person, who most people have never heard of. Her life should be shared with more people so they can be inspired by her courage, hard work, and kindness.
