Since I can’t get enough of Catalyntje, I commissioned a linocut artist to make three prints related to my historical novel, “Catalyntje Trico: A Life in New Amsterdam.” The first print is now available here at my online store or from the artist! This first print is the Walloon Church in Amsterdam, where Catalyntje and Joris were married in 1624.
These prints are individually stamped from a hand-carved block and signed by the artist. They are all original artwork. Each print is 4 x 6 and hand stamped on 90 lb printmaking paper, using Speedball water-soluble printmaking ink. Each print will be carefully packaged to protect them during shipping.
Please note that, due to natural variability during the hand printing process, the print you receive may have minor imperfections or variations from the image on the listing but will be printed from the same original carved block. This means that each print is unique!
I have seen the upcoming sketches for the subsequent linocut prints, and they will also be fantastic. The next one is of Catalyntje’s house near Fort Orange. It shows a small, simple house hidden among tall trees. The third one will be her home near Fort Amsterdam, which has a row of houses and that fort as a backdrop. I also have ideas for two more that will most likely follow this first set of three.
If you want to purchase more linocut art from this artist, you can find them at this link on Etsy.
